"When I witness strangers yell discriminatory names at my mother, I feel a deep sadness and love for my mother that urges me to create change. My family motivates me to fight for racial equality. Having lived in both China and the US, I recognize the value in studying diverse communities and their cultures. Through RISE, I want to learn how to promote peace through building connections between people, communities, and eventually countries. I'm looking forward to making friends who are dedicated to solving a wide range of issues."
