Role

As Program Coordinator for Service Focus I support all facets of the Service Focus program. I recruit and advise students, support and engage with faculty, build relationships with campus partners, and track and measure progress of Service Focus. As the on-the-ground representative of Service Focus it’s my primary role to be a resource to students as they find new ways to connect service and learning in their time at Princeton.

Background

Before coming to Princeton I worked as an instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Marymount Manhattan College and New York University, where I taught courses in communication arts while pursuing a Master’s Degree in Media, Culture and Communication and an (ongoing) Ph.D. in Communication and Rhetoric. As a scholar and instructor of communication, I believe deeply in the power of language to change the world. Helping students put a clear voice to their ideas and passions continues to be the central motivation and great joy in my work. Prior to returning to academia, I worked at a small branding and innovation firm in Manhattan and ran a community advocacy non-profit based in Greenwich Village. Having worked in corporate, non-profit, and academic contexts, I’ve seen service and civic engagement take a multitude of forms, from creative innovation, to hands on service, to political advocacy or protest I believe we can all find a way to effect change in the world.

Fun Fact

When I’m not at the Pace Center you can find me walking my puppy around campus, throwing pottery at the local art studio or taking the train into New York City.
