"As an African American male, I experience racism in some sort of shape or form in each and every day. It is still present within our society; however, everyday there are improvements with new black people being elected for different positions or another law that protects minorities. There is still much more that needs to be done, and with my platform, I need to give back to my community and get involved in racial justice work. What I hope to learn, or experience is the organizational skills and the coordination skills needed to create a project and run it on my own eventually. I want to eventually be able to run my own organization and be able to give other young adults internships so they can create their own organizations. I am looking forward to working in my community, making a difference, and giving back to what has helped given me the strength and courage to be where I am at today."
