
Liz Lempert served eight years as the first Mayor of Princeton (2013-2020) after the former Princeton Township and Borough governments consolidated. Lempert worked alongside an amazing team to ensure a successful merger that saved taxpayer money and expanded services, and also worked on a wide-range of initiatives including climate resiliency, affordable housing, civil rights, and public art. Prior to elected office, Lempert worked as a producer, editor and bureau chief for a National Public Radio show. Lempert serves as the board chair of a local transitional housing non-profit. Lempert loves bringing people together to build community and work towards shared goals and is passionate about the pivotal role local communities play in effecting change. Lempert received undergraduate degrees in history and symbolic systems from Stanford University, and a master’s degree in science journalism from Boston University.
