"I have always been drawn to racial justice work; my passion stems from my upbringing, my experiences as a Black woman, and my strong belief that this is what I am supposed to do. Due to institutional racism, there are countless inequities that affect the everyday lives of people of color. I consider it an honor and responsibility to create spaces that give communities of color more opportunities. This summer, I hope to be inspired by my peers who share this passion and will bring their own unique perspectives to the table. As a fellow matched with Global Citizen, I am excited to make a difference in young children's lives and provide them with the support and tools they need to learn to read. I am looking forward to collaborating with other racial justice advocates and community leaders throughout Philadelphia."
