Een Jabriel has been involved with prison education for nearly 20 years as an incarcerated student, a recently released undergraduate at Rutgers University in New Brunswick and as a recruiter, trainer and volunteer coordinator throughout several state prisons partnered with The NJ Department of Corrections. Having both lived experiences within a carceral space while also having an academic background in criminology helped Jabriel to conceptualize and critique so-called “solutions” while also being able to observe and combat the stigmatization of those who are currently and formerly incarcerated.
