"Racial justice work lies at the center of my call to serve. Having witnessed and experienced the escalation of anti-Asian racism and sinophobia in the early days of the pandemic, I find racial justice crucial in fostering a beloved community in which all are accepted and are truly welcomed to call home. As a writer, I find it my duty to uplift voices and use my own voice and platform to help facilitate social change. I hope that, through my experience this summer in the local Philly community, I can learn more about the lived experiences of those I meet and unpack how racial injustice impacts issues like health, food security, socioeconomic wellbeing, and education. I look forward to building relationships with the local community, especially with the younger kids, as well as learning how to better support racial justice work in non-profit."
