"Examining racial injustice and all its interconnected systems of oppression in my own life has not only shown me how domination literally kills people, but also how it fractures all our abilities to be whole and to care for each other and ourselves. Thus, my passion for racial justice derives from the hope that dismantling unjust systems and their logics will restore our ability to relate and engage in community in honest, non-exploitative, life-affirming ways. Through RISE, I hope to further develop my understanding of what it means to be in community and learn ways to bring my dreams of a more equitable world into political and personal praxis. I'm especially looking forward to building relationships with, supporting, and growing alongside the other RISE fellows as we learn together."
