Send Hunger Packing

by manisha

Send Hunger Packing is the Mercer Street Friends food bank's backpack program for kids. The program provides healthy meals for children to eat on the weekends. Princeton helps out by transporting the food from the food bank to local elementary schools. Our project aims to end food insecurity among the most vulnerable children in Trenton, which is one of the most under-served areas in the US. Not only will you help feed hungry children, but you will also contribute to the establishment of a positive, nurturing learning environment for them.

When: SHP usually meets biweekly. Students can volunteer as little or as much as they’d like. Volunteers choose shifts that work for them, so it's very flexible. No application required!

Where: Volunteers meet on-campus and then drive together to the food bank.
