Mission: The mission of the Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES) is to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create opportunities for success in the community
CASES currently runs over 24 programs and has offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx serving clients from all 5 boroughs. We are a growing agency and employ upwards of 250 people.
Interns will have the opportunity to work within the court houses to support the advocacy and intake. The court house is the front door to our flagship youth program, the Court Employment Project, an ATI serving youth 16-24. Interns working with our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) will have the opportunity to assist 350 vulnerable youth secure summer employment.
Summer Youth Employment program Assistant (Schedule is 10am-6pm M-F)
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a city-wide program that support upwards of 70,000 youth in NYC (14-24 year olds) secure a 6-week paid summer employment. CASES participates in the Vulnerable Youth initiative to support youth who are justice involved, homeless and/or in the foster care system. CASES is responsible for 350 youth over the summer. Interns will assist the SYEP team to deliver group Orientations for youth who will earn a 6-week paid summer job. In June, interns will help youth apply to SYEP which includes direct work with clients and other referring agencies. Orientations for SYEP will occur in June and the first week of July. Interns who are interested in assisting with group facilitation will have the opportunity to co-facilitate these Orientations. In July and August, youth will be working at identified work sites. Interns will have the opportunity to create and facilitate employment support workshops for small groups of youth who are working and need extra support.
