Students for Prison and Education Reform (SPEAR)
Meeting: Each of the four committees has weekly or bi-weekly meetings (1-2 hours). Email Brett for more information.
Students for Prison Education and Reform brings awareness to the Princeton community about issues with the American prison system, and fosters discussion about what can be done to change it. It connects students with interests in making positive social change, and facilitates their advocacy for smarter incarceration policies on a local and national level. It also works with the Petey Greene Prisoner Assistance Program and the Prison Teaching Initiative to increase the number of Princeton students, staff, and faculty volunteering at local facilities and with prevention and rehabilitation programs.
