Service is part of the Princeton student experience. At the Pace Center for Civic Engagement we help students learn to do service well and have a positive impact in the community. We support sustained volunteering, community immersion, student advocacy and activism, summer internships and post-graduate fellowships. Students learn to be well-prepared, to be intentional about the work they do, and to reflect thoughtfully about the service they engage in.

Purposeful Partnerships

Wednesday, Aug 2, 2017

At the Pace Center the relationships we develop are integral to making service a part of the Princeton student experience. When we connect with others in a meaningful way we begin to understand community need, to listen to community, learn from community and serve with community. We believe that at its heart, service is a powerful exchange where we have as much to learn as we have to give. Partners – in the community and on campus – are an integral part of what makes service meaningful for Princeton students and the community around us.

Service is a powerful exchange where students have as much to learn as they have to give. Partnerships with communities should be respectful and purposeful. Students’ humility and accountability yield equality, inclusion and understanding. Students learn to listen to communities, understand community needs and build community on campus and beyond.

Service Focus

Tuesday, Aug 1, 2017

Service and civic engagement are central to what it means to be a Princetonian. Service Focus is a signature program at Princeton University that bridges service and learning across the first two years of your Princeton experience. Service Focus is a foundational experience, where students learn how to serve, learn why to serve and learn from the experience of service.
