Incoming Freshmen

The Pace Center for Civic Engagement offers two programs targeted toward incoming freshmen every year. The first, Community Action, introduces freshmen to Princeton and the surrounding communities through an immersive week of service before orientation begins. The second program, "Reflections on Service", is held to inspire incoming freshmen to participate in a dynamic range of civic engagement activities on campus, from journalism and activism to more traditional volunteer service.

Community Action

Community Action

Community Action is a week-long pre-orientation program for the freshman class sponsored by the Pace Center for Civic Engagement at Princeton University. A uniquely immersive experience, CA participants don’t just volunteer. Students engage with a range of people and cultures as they eat, sleep, and work in the communities they serve. CA seeks to promote an ethic of service among undergraduates, foster productive collaboration between the University and surrounding communities, and engage all participants in both academic and interpersonal dialogue.
